I’ve heard lots of definitions:
“It amounts to a clear recognition of what and who we really are, followed by a sincere attempt to become what we could be” -12&12 Step 5, p58
“A state of complete freedom from myself, freedom from all the claims that my defects of character now lay so heavily before me. Perfect humility would be a full willingness, in all times and places, to find and to do the will of God” -Grapevine June 1961
“The basic ingredient of all humility, a desire to seek an do God’s will” -12&12 Step 7 p 72
“Freedom from pride or arrogance” -Merrium-Webster
“Becoming right sized” -Spons
“Humility is not the same as humiliation” -The Rooms (is quoted anywhere?)
Humility to me is not thinking less of myself or more than myself, and be willing to let go of my idea of me and move towards God’s vision for me.
What does humility mean to you?
